Key to the Delta

A mud-stumped green

boot of cheap rubber - 

my golden key to the delta;

kept the blood-suckers at bay

held fast my bone, crushed 'neath a tire. 

You cracked in the black puddles

of that tundra-heath in Marshall

and let in the sog, a torrent.
